Fox settled the Dominion lawsuit for $787.5 million in order to avoid going to trial. The 11th hour settlement is the largest amount of money ever paid to conclude an American media defamation case.
The settlement spared Fox from having some of its best-known talking heads called to the witness stand, including Fox CEO Rupert Murdoch and on-air hosts Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity and Jeanine Pirro.
Ample evidence showed Fox News disregarded the truth during the 2020 election because its executives were deeply concerned about preserving its ratings and increasing profits.
The exact terms of the settlement have not been released.
